New Horizons

A modular online resource for non-exam Senior Cycle students

New Horizons is an online modular programme for Senior Cycle students who are not taking Religious Education as an examination subject.
It is a fully digital, interactive resource. The focus is on exploration and discovery, leading to personal action. It includes extensive video and audio content, along with creative activities for individuals and groups.

The first six New Horizons modules are now available:

1. Your Life Journey

2. Climate Justice

3. Finding Meaning Through Art

4. The Life of Jesus

5. Meditation

6. Social Justice

Each module has five units and follows the same structure. The unit titles reflect the themes of ‘Setting out on your journey’, ‘Encounters along the way’, ‘Challenges’, ‘Discoveries’ and ’Finding Your Purpose’. This structure aims to help students to reflect on their life as a journey through a number of stages, with adolescence being a time of discovery and opportunity.

Each module is accompanied by a set of Assessments.

A new module on the Sacraments will be available later this autumn. Three additional modules – on The Church, Morality and God – will become available in 2027.

New Horizons is available from Folens.ie for a subscription of €100 per school per annum, which will give access to all teachers.
